It’s a scary adventure for those aboard the cargo ship Demeter as they sail the high seas with only one thing on their minds—surviving. In this tale of mystery and suspense, a lone survivor recounts his harrowing journey in search of answers in the last voyage of Demeter.

On the doomed ship the crew is stalked each night by a relentless presence – a merciless something that lurks, watching, waiting. The DEMETER finally arrived off the shores of England in a state of total destruction. There was no trace of the crew after the accident.

The movie features Corey Hawkins as Clemens, a doctor who joins the Demeter crew, Aisling Franciosi as an unwitting stowaway, Liam Cunningham as the ship’s captain, and David Dastmalchian as Demeter’s first mate.

In 2002, Bragi F. Schut wrote the initial screenplay for The Last Voyage of the Demeter with Robert Schwentke on board to direct, as well as write and rewrite with partner Mitch Brian.

However, it languished in development hell for about twenty years with several other directors attached to the film including Marcus Nispel, Stefan Ruzowitzky, David Slade, and Neil Marshall.

In one point, Noomi Rapace and Ben Kingsley were set to star in the film. Viggo Mortensen was also in talks. In October 2019, it was announced André Øvredal will direct the film with Amblin Partners set to produce.
