On August 5, 2022, 20th Century Studios will release the science fiction movie Prey as a Hulu original movie. The movie will be streamed on Hulu in the US, Disney+ Hotstar in India and Southeast Asia, Star+ in Latin America, and Disney+ (through Star) in other international markets.
Davis stated that the movie could be edited to get a PG-13 classification even though it was originally intended to have a rating. Trachtenberg said that the movie would be certified R later in June 2022.

In 2021, filming was planned for the science fiction movie prey to take place in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. According to Davis, the movie was officially three-quarters complete in July 2021. Cinematographer Jeff Cutter announced the casting of Dakota Beavers and Dane DiLiegro in September of that year, along with the completion of filming.

Prior to her resignation in January 2020, former 20th Century Studios Production President Emma Watts accelerated the production of the movie. It was intended to be an R-rated movie.
The science-fiction movie prey, which was previously going under the moniker Skulls, was kept under wraps in December 2019. According to reports, the movie will “follow a Comanche lady who defies gender expectations and conventions to become a warrior.” Patrick Aison would have written the script, and Trachtenberg would have directed it.
In November 2020, it was made public that the working title Skulls was really a codename for the fifth Predator movie, which was being made by the same creative team.
