Gotham Knights, the name only says it all. It is an upcoming American superhero television series created by James Stoteraux, Natalie Abrams, and Chad Fiveash for The CW. Gotham Knights will be written by Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux, and Natalie Abrams. Fiveash and Stoteraux have worked in the world of DC heroism before, serving as executive producers for the CW Bat Woman series.
The sources reveal that the director of the infamous TV series will be Danny Cannon, and along with this another important piece of news is that the show enters production in the next few weeks. They have also worked together on other popular shows like The Vampire Diaries and Gotham. It centers on members of the Batman family, and other DC Comics supporting characters and is set to premiere in 2023. The executive producers of the TV series were also revealed to be Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schecter, and David Madden through Berlanti Productions.
As the name implies, the show will be based on a team of Gotham-based heroes. Interestingly, this draws a parallel with the recently canceled Bat Woman, which focused on the titular hero in the wake of Batman’s disappearance. Though Gotham Knights are still relatively early on in its production, there is much that’s already known about the series. In the comics, the Gotham Knights are a team made up of Batman’s allies. A stricter and more militant incarnation of the Batman Family, the Gotham Knights has included the likes of Batman, Batwing, Bat Woman, Red Robin, Azrael, Cassandra Cain, and Stephanie Brown. The Gotham Knights also once included the traditional Batman villain Clay-face.
In the wake of Bruce Wayne’s death, his rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for the murder and attempt to clear their names Gotham Knights’ story takes place in the aftermath of the death of Batman. Following Turner Haynes, Bruce Wayne’s adopted son, Gotham Knights will see him ally with the children of Batman’s enemies after they are framed for Bruce’s murder. Therefore, its place in the Arrow-verse timeline will likely be later than Bat Woman’s, although this has yet to be confirmed.

The CW has released the first trailer for Gotham Knights, the latest DC series from the network that’s given us Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Superman & Lois, and more.
The Gotham Knights series take place in the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder as his rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. And as the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been.
However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors known as the Gotham Knights. The CW officially ordered Gotham Knights straight-to-series earlier this month alongside Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters and Walker: Independence, a Walker origin story. The Gotham Knights trailer has The CW wrote all over it, which is either a good thing or a bad thing depending on your stomach for teenage angst.
Following the release of The CW’s Gotham Knights trailer, the footage has gotten major backlash as fans on social media are slamming the network’s new DC TV show. 2022 has been perhaps The CW’s most controversial year in a long time due to the many changes that are happening at the network. The start of 2022 saw a news break that Warner Media and Paramount are looking to sell the CW, which launched in 2006 after The WB and UPN merged. While it hasn’t been sold yet, Nexstar is reportedly a major candidate in purchasing The CW.
Gotham Knights star Oscar Morgan as Turner Hayes, Anna Lore as Stephanie Brown, Olivia Rose Keegan as Duela Dent, Navia Robinson as Carrie Kelley, Fallon Smythe as Harper Row, Tyler DiChiara as Cullen Row, and Misha Collins as Harvey Dent. Natalie Abrams, Chad Fiveash, and James Stoteraux, all alums of The CW’s Batwoman series, have penned the Gotham Knights series, with Fiveash and Stoteraux also serving as executive producers alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden, with Abrams co-executive producing. Reactions to the Gotham Knights trailer on social media haven’t been kind, with some saying that the new series looks like Riverdale meets Gotham. What did you think of the Gotham Knights trailer?
